A couple years ago at this time it looked inevitable that the Brooklyn Nets would outdo the New York Knicks in becoming the first team to a bring NBA championship to New York City in several decades.  However, stunningly enough, the triumvirate of future Hall of Fame talent broke up in Brooklyn, and the Knicks have now pushed the franchise further away from that perch that they once sat atop. After losing to the Nets nine consecutive times that spanned the Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden years, the Knicks have now beaten the Nets twice in the last two weeks.  Both games have come at Madison Square Garden, with the latest one this past Wednesday night in a 142-118 Knicks rout.

The game was over after the first quarter where the Knicks reeled off 47 points behind nine made threes and 18 points apiece from their money men Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson.  Brunson finished with a game high 39 points on a spectacular 15 of 18 shooting from the floor. Every Knicks starter scored  in double figures. Newly acquired Cam Thomas had a team high 33 points for Brooklyn.  Knicks now hold the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference as the Nets have fallen to 6th.

The Knicks are in Miami tonight to play the Heat and then travel to Boston to face the Celtics Sunday. Brooklyn play in Boston tonight before coming home Sunday to play the Charlotte Hornets.
