Hurts Wants To Be Part Of History

Phoenix, Arizona – History will be made on Sunday at Super Bowl LVII 
as it will be the first time that the two starting quarterbacks are Black. 

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts discussed the significance of the 

historic clash Sunday and what it means to football players of all ages and their fans.

“It can be done,” Hurts asserted. “Obviously being part of something
so historic and making history. You talk about breaking records and
being the first to do this, but I think this is something on a whole
different level. A whole different magnitude holds a different type of
weight.”

Hurts admitted that, because of his age and focus on the game, he may
not comprehend the significance of Sunday’s game.

“I don’t know if I really have digested and kind of understand what’s
going on just yet,” he said. “Maybe later on, but obviously, for my
parents and my grandparents, this is something that isn’t normal. It’s
special.”

Kansas City obviously has great belief in their quarterback Patrick
Mahomes. He’s a former NFL MVP, and Super Bowl MVP, and is likely the
2022 NFL MVP. But the Philadelphia Eagles also strongly believe in
their 24-year-old, third-year quarterback. And that’s for a great
reason. The team is 16-1 in games in which Hurts started. Hurts is
already making history Sunday, but he’s hoping to make more and come
away as a Super Bowl champion as well.
