Nets Continue To Dominate Knicks
The Brooklyn Nets have beaten the New York Knicks nine consecutive times. The latest Brooklyn win over their intercity rival took place at the Barclays Center last Saturday afternoon as the Nets bested the Knicks 122-115.
It was a case of too much Kyrie Irving for the Knickerbockers. After holding him to 11 points through three quarters Irving erupted for 21 points in the final quarter to give him a game high 32. Said Irving afterward, “for me l love beating the Knicks and playing against them. Overall, it’s all about the objective. Winning the ballgame and nothing personal.”
The Knicks trailed by as many as 19 points in the third quarter and battled back, but they were never able to get the deficit closer than three points in the fourth quarter. The difference in the game was Brooklyn’s outstanding three-point shooting as they knocked down 22 of 40 threes for a 55% clip. The Knicks made just 10 of 28 three-point attempts. The contest marked the sixth consecutive in which Irving reached the 30-point mark. He also added six rebounds and nine assists. Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett scored 26 and 24 points for the Knicks while Julius Randle had a team high 10 rebounds to go along with 19 points and 8 assists. The loss didn’t sit well with Brunson. “The loss bothers me,” he began. “So no matter how many in a row it’s been, it can be one, it bothers me.”
The Knicks hosted LeBron James and the Lakers Tuesday night. James was a game time decision with teammate Anthony Davis still out with a right foot stress injury.
