Richmond police said Monday the 3400 block of Richmond Parkway became a hotspot for catalytic converter thefts in January, especially in the apartment community.

Police said thieves are especially targeting the Toyota Prius model. They also said there have been several carjackings in the area.

Police say to lock up and park your vehicle in a secure area whenever possible. Remove valuables from your car and consider an anti-theft device and a catalytic converter cage for your car. They also say to always pay attention to your surroundings.
